We try to travel to Haiti about three times a year. While there we hold small business classes, provide additional business loans, and various other sustainability and training projects. We have a list of just under 100 people who are wanting loans.
We are tentatively planning a follow-up trip for early spring 2017. That trip we will busy with a lot of exciting projects such as teaching adults to sign their name, starting seedlings, and starting our first building - a credit union!
Approximate cost per person:
Airline ticket from Chicago - $550
Trip insurance - $3.30/day
Hotel in Ft. Lauderdale - $50 (based on four persons/room)
Entrance fee to Haiti - $10
Round trip transportation from Port au Prince to Canielle - $100
Lodging (air-condtioned) & food in Canielle - $200/week

We are starting many small businesses with the help of people like you. Look under the tab "Micro-loans" and see the Success Stories. Once a loan is paid back, it is re-invested to the next person. A one-time donation can help the people of Haiti indefinitely!
We are an official 501(c)(3) organization. All donations are tax deductible. S'MORES has no paid stateside employees, so 100% of all donations go to the Haitian people.
A small amount makes a big difference! All travel expenses are self-funded and not paid through your donations.
Also, you can support us as you do your online shopping. Goodshop works with thousands of stores to get you the best deals AND donates a portion of what you spend back to S'MORES. You can find everything ranging from Best Buy promo codes to Old Navy deals and Home Depot savings.
Large companies such as Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Kohl's, Target, Walmart and travel companies like Orbitz and Hotels.com are listed on their site and donate a portion to our cause.
