Our Ministry

About Us

How did we get started?

Our president, Sandy, first went to Haiti in 2001 with an established mission organization and loved it so much she took more trips there. She had the opportunity to spend one month abroad, and discovered there were many Haitians that had never seen a missionary before. She realized there were a number of villages that were not being reached by the established missions, so she decided to start her own organization. S'MORES became an official non-profit in 2004. We are working in Fauche, a mountain village that desperately needs assistance and have partnered with the Haitian pastor there.

Why are we named S'MORES?

Eating s'mores around the campfire while worshiping and singing was an outreach that both the Haitians and we have enjoyed. When we were trying to come up with a group name, we thought about that outreach and came up with the acronym School 'n Medical Outreach Revealing Eternal Salvation, and thus, S'MORES was born.

"What good is it, my brother, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such a faith save him? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead."  -  James 3:14 & 17
